    Hi guys

Not sure if this is the right location for this tread.

BUT I made a serious chopping board today and thought it would be great for guys cleaning and butchering game. I was thinking of making more if there was enough interest in them.

It is solid wood and a real statement in a kitchen and a far superior board to most. The one in the pictures is made from oak but can also be made in beach. It is also unfinished but finishing is just done with an olive oil or simular.

Dimensions of this board is 70mm high, 520mm deep and 700mm wide.
As you can see the main board is end grain wrapped with a 35mm sold band joined with hand cut through dovetail joints on four corners.

It would make a great addition to your set up. And if your into buying yourself a Christmas present this is ideal because you can pretend its for the miss's.

    how much are they

    The million dollar question.

To be honest it not to sure because ill have to see exactly what timber is in it how quick they cane be made but with the hand cut dovetails your in the region of 300 euro - 350 including postage. In or around.

I'm not to sure just yet because I have a couple other ideas and designs floating around in the head aswell.

But price obviously depends on how many that can be made and sold.

did you fly over to america and cut the oak tree down yourself :D:D

No in fairness I'd prob get the timber cheaper if I did but you pay for what you get the work in the joints is serious in its self

    Nice looking board.

What joints have you holding all the cubes together and the outside to the cubes or is it all just glued?

Looks amazing and I'm in the market for one but the 300 ish price is a little saucy for me.

It is all glued but the dovetails will hold it together they are cut with the longest side because if there was expansions there would be more on the this side because there is more pieces.

I was thinking of another board with no glue that is just bolted together ?????????

Nice one, reminds me of those pre FSAI days when we used real boards and not those plastic crap tiles we forced to use.
I use one at home that was old when I got it and is still in perfect condition 18 years later.
Nice work there, great investment for any one.
A nice 6 inch thick bolted chopping block would be a perfect evoluation of design, ideal for more robust butchery tasks.

I could do a cheaper one but to be honest it prob wouldn't be as heavy also pending on how much your talking it mightn't have the dovetails. Sorry

Finger joints would look well with the design and be fast and easy if you had access to a spindle moulder with the right cutter block.

Ye it would but you would only be able to finger joint it one two side of the blocks but if you we're to do it on all four sides it could get a bit tricky. Not saying it can't be done but it would be tricky enough and one piece int the wrong way your blocks prob end up not looking square

What you mean?? It would be just as easy make dovetails look off-square as it would finger joints!
