You dont wire them from the headlights, you wire them from the battery, through a relay, which is switched on and off by your light switches.
You're trying to pull enough current for three lights through wiring meant for one, you're lucky only the lights blew.
Normally when you buy a spots kit, the relay and the wiring instructions come with it!

Don't wire them into the cars lights. Been there, done that. Driving home one evening all the dipped lights blew! That was a funny moment looking back :pac:

Use a seperate heavy duty switch on the dash.

Use a proper fused power supply direct from the battery. I used a 30amp fuse to be on the safe side.

I used 1 standard automotive relay per light.

Wiring is as follows on a relay:
    30 positive in
    85 gnd
    86 signal in
    87/87a signal out

On the cars switch I used a twin output relay and the signal in was the pin for the bulb connected to pin 86. For the signal in on separate switch I used another fused feed from the battery.

You could use just a basic fused feed on a switch but if you are like I was using 100w bulbs then you need all the power you can get.

    On a phone so I can't link a diagram! :(

Are you sure the 2 spot bulbs and headlight bulb are blown? I'd disconnect the spots and replace the H/L bulb to verify that you haven't burned out the wiring or blown a fuse, also the way you wired it will also over-load the H/L switch.
