Im having problems getting the newstalk signal for the past few days. On both cars between caherciveen and killorglin the pre- set gives hiss and static, the search pulls in the signal for a few minutes followed by more hiss and static. Any ideas ?

Newstalk reception anywhere near Cahirciveen is pathetic because their signal is not meant to cover Cahirciveen. RTE/Radio Kerry/Spin SW have a high powered relay at Kilkeveragh for Cahirciveen and surroundings, however because Newstalk don't cover the whole coountry so they don't have any relays in West Kerry, and the signal from Mullaghanish/Knockmoyle isn't good enough to make it through the mountains.

agreed its always been dodgy around caherciveen . In killorglin it was usually fine, there's been a noticeable declin just in recent days. It sounds like something is interfering .

They were having major problems in Kerry last week and into the weekend. Not related to lack of transmitter in South Kerry.

Dont know if they've fixed them.

It seemed much better today .I wonder if it was anything to do with the movement of the wind turbine equipment?

Actually, I noticed a weaker signal on 107.2 from Knockmoyle at home this week, probably the reason for the issues by the OP.

On a related note, have Spin SW dropped their power from Knockmoyle on 102.5 over the last few months? It has gone from a very strong signal RDS here to a weaker stereo signal with no RDS. This has been noted on a few receivers, and it's especially noticeable when driving east, before the signal would go half of the way to Mallow but now it fades out after Boherbue. I'm not sure how it's doing in places like Macroom where the "old" signal had RDS on the Millstreet side of Macroom.
