The Dublin Bus 45 to the city ran infrequently but it at least took one to Blackrock Clinic, SV Hospital,The RDS, the Aviva.Been replaced by 84 bus which terminates Blackrock. Now have to walk to catch a 2nd bus along this busy arterial route. So patients and visitors attending the above clinics have to catch a 2nd bus within 3 miles of leaving Cabinteely, Clonkeen Rd.Is this the only major city route where 2 buses are needed within a short distance of the city centre. Why?

You might have better luck actually asking Dublin Bus. Not sure anyone on here would have the specific details, but I assume it's due to capacity and usage.

Why don't you post on this thread
    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056779290

There's a Dublin Bus driver online for "one night only" and he'll answer any questions put to him about how Dublin Bus works.

because nobody used it, the 45 was always empty and declined while the 2 actual transport corridors either side of it N11 and coastal routes ahve grown and the 7, 145 and 46a are very busy routes.

Wasn't the 45 a busy route when it actually ran all the way into the city centre. Then DB started mucking about with it, changing its terminus every couple of months untill they successfully killed it.

Once the 145 was established along the Stillorgan QBC as the principal high frequency route to/from Bray, the numbers dropped significantly on the 45.
