Cyclists and skateboarders breaking red lights

Twice in the last two weeks I was almost knocked down by a cyclist and a skateboarder breaking a red light as I crossed while the green man was showing. It pisses me off that I can't relax crossing the road when I'm entitled to. Next time it happens I'm stepping in front of the skateboarder with my forehead aimed at his face. If it's a cyclist I'll Muay Thai kick the wheel if his bike out of my way.

I've seen cars do it a lot too. They should be taken off the road!

I could never understand skateboarding in a country where the footpaths are barely walkable.

Every time I see a cyclist cycle through a red light just because they've had a quick glance and it looks like there is no cars coming I'm secretly praying to myself they get knocked down.

If we just get rid of red lights, there will be no problem! :D

A cyclist has lots of inertia, and is also carrying up to 10kg of metal and moving parts. Please videotape yourself kicking them.

Thing is, even if there's a green man, you still have to be cautious unfortunately.

I've nearly been injured several times in the last week, and have previously suffered injuries to both myself and my bike, by pedestrians stepping off the path, nowhere near a pedestrian crossing, without even glancing around them. Then they act like I'm the asshole.

I think that next time I won't bother braking, and they can see how they like being hit by a cyclist going at 30kph.

ETA: I've been noticing more and more cyclist stopping at lights recently. A year ago, when I was last on the bike regularly, I'd be the only person stopped, and people would be cycling past me. The last couple of days people stopping has been at least equal in number to those breaking the lights.

I saw the most beautiful thing yesterday, two cyclists broke the red light and ran into each other leaving both mangled on the wet road. Made my day.

OP if you're that serious about it - there's no point being passive aggressive online and starting these threads, there's only one real option available to you:

You've got to be a traffic light police man, now whether that's a real job or not, I don't know. But if you feel strongly enough about it - then you know what you have to do!

I was pulling out on to a national road when I had a green arrow to go and a cyclist instead of stopping goes through the red and I have to stop from hitting him.

Then about 50 metres ahead at another set of lights the same cyclist goes through a red light and nearly gets creamed, driver blaring his horn at him and the cyclist non chalontly holds up one hand and cycles on.

    Head cases.

I could never understand skateboarding in a country where the footpaths are barely walkable.

It's more difficult than in other countries alright. Dublin is grand though.

I skate, but pedestrians get priority from me, i.e if the footpath is busy up ahead, I'll just step off. In my experience, a lot of cyclists in cities are very inconsiderate ****tards. At least you can hear a skateboard rolling up behind you!

    That's why I sing as I cycle.

People run out of the way, covering their ears! :p

    Complete double standards.

I see hundreds of people j walking every time I'm cycling through town or if I'm out on a country road and there is a single white line its extremely rare for a car to wait until road markings indicate its safe to overtake.

If you are going to tar all 'cyclists' or 'skateboarders' with the same brush then you as a pedestrian have to take responsibility for other pedestrians (and motorists?) which makes you a hypocrite.
