Help me pick a Saorview & Freeview Receiver

Hi all, So having tested the reception it appears that we're able to receive UK freeview which is excellent news. It saves having to change the whole setup on the older TV's in the house. Any now I need three receiver that will work with both saorview and freeview. What boxes would you recommend?

that wont work with freeview. you need a box capable of dvb-t2

I might stay away from that box to be honest as it doesn't do Mheg which means digital text won't work and the red button services on the Beeb also wont work.

A freeview HD receiver would cover both - but you will probably find that Saorview channels will be listed on channels 800+.

There have been some positive reviews on this forum about the i-Can Easy HD 2851T Freeview HD Set Top Box - there are couple of entries on this forum about it - here is one http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056738200

It'll work for the Freeview SD channels (DVB-T) but you'll require a receiver with a DVB-T2 tuner (FreeviewHD spec) for the 4 HD channels BBC1 HD, BBC HD, UTV HD and CH4 HD, if you want the 4 HD channels that is (they're duplicates of the 4 SD channels).

Edit:
As marclt says above, no MHEG-5 so no digital text, interactive services.

Only if you use UK as the country on setup it appears, if you use Ireland as the install country the Irish channels appear first with the UK overspill channels installed from 9 upwards in random order. Posted earlier this evening about that.

NB - I note it doesn't do Freeview HD - so maybe not 'all that'!

The I-Can 2851t is available for around €40 and is the ideal box for simply receiving freeview hd and saorview. It does digital text on both platforms also.

Ok for Saorview and Freeview but no DVB-T2 tuner if you want the FreeviewHD channels from NI in about a week and half's time
