Hey , myself and my gay partner are ready to have a kid and we just want to get sperm and do a turkey baser job on it, anyone recommend a clinic? In Ireland we just can't buy the sperm so were gonna have to go out of the country to get it, any help would be greatly appreciated :-)

Ah sure just try sitting on a few toilet seats in men's toilets, that should do the job!

You can buy from Cryos for either home use or have it sent to a clinic afaik. Haven't done it myself so don't know the details. Seems pricy.

I think I read before in the times that you buy it from finland or one of the scandavian countries as unlike ireland they have legal framework done on it.

a friend of mine put ads on gumtree and viva street for genuine 'jizz into a cup' donors. Had alot of replies like the above and wanting to do it 'naturally' but some were genuine and now she has a 7month old :)

Also, a syringe rather than a turkey baster ;)

If you use a proper organisation not trying to be shallow but you can pick donor on height, ethnicity, hair colour and eye colour something that will be passed on to the child.

Also more importantly you can pick a donor that has a family with little health issues so you don't have to worry about genetic problems being passed onto your child

I think the op wants serious replies

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

When I first read it I thought it was a piss take, but reading it again maybe not, just the turkey baster reference threw me. Appologise to the OP if it's serious.

I hope this thread is serious. I was advised by this wonderful forum to have a look at Cynos and it is a great easy to use site. I am still a bit uncertain if its possible to get it delivered to Ireland and do a DIY job.

This is what we want as a couple. To get safe sperm off a donor to make a child with the person I love. Simple? Apparently not! I plan to look again at Cynos as I would advise you to. I just hope we can order and do it ourselves. If I come up with anymore information I will let you know :)

Cryos deliver to clinics in Ireland anyway. Just be careful that you buy the right thing (washed or unwashed) unwashed is for diy (although clinics can buy it and clean it themselves) and washed is iui-ready. What you'll be doing at home isnt iui, because that has to be done in a sterile medical enviroment by a medical professional. Best of luck!! :)

edit: there;s some info in this thread already that might help http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056497125&

I am serious. I would happily do it for the right amount of money as I'm currently broke. My post may have sounded light-hearted, but certainly no disrespect was intended.

I'm not sure of the legalities of that at all and have you considered that you could actually at some stage end up having to pay child maintenance or child support!!!!!!

Maybe if you knew someone you would like to be the father you could ask him for a "donation" most men would be flattered to be asked, whether he accepts or not is up to him.

We don't know of anyone who would do it for us that's why we would prefer buying the sperm ourselves and doing it at home

From checking online it appears this may be the case. If a donation is made to an agency and everything is done through them then I am not listed on the birth certificate, have no say on how the child is brought up and am not responsible for financially supporting the child. The agency takes my information and if the child wants to access it when they turn 18 and seek me out, that's up to them. But it seems if I just donate fresh sperm then I am legally the child's father and am personally and financially responsible for them.
