Broadband or Not?

Previously posted about trying to get broadband in my area and a rep told me that it probably wasn't possible as we were quite far from the exchange and that the landline number we gave was no longer registered to an address.

However, since we moved yesterday, ringing the landline number gets through to our house and we can talk over the phone, but cant make outgoing calls. When I submit the number on Eircom's website, it tells me I need to contact a specialised rep to talk about returning to Eircom.

We dont have an EAN, and the landlord only knows the landline number. The owner of the house is in a retirement home so we're trying to get this sorted without contacting her.

Dial 199000 and give Linda the number 'spoken back' to you.

Have done but according to another rep the number no longer exists even though my mother called me on it!
