My lucana satfinder is sadly showing its age and wont be able to do find. soarsat.

I was wondering if there is any good ones out there that support soarsat , i live in an area where a lot of soarsat dishes will be needed and we get huge storms so wind moving dishes will be an issue as well.

Any good sat finders out there that are well supported and have good battery life.

The Lucana was awful for battery life.

How much do you want to spend? You will, ideally, need a DVB-S2 capable meter with a spectrum analyser for the easiest way to align.
An Emitor Satlook Micro HD is a good one, but costs about £450. probably best in it's price range.
Look up Creative Satellite, and try their ebay listing, easy to deal with.

Check the Emitor product comparison chart. Only the HD models will display info. relating to DVB-S2 transmissions.

    pricey stuff these sat finders.

might have to go for this

SATLINK WS-6932 HD only 350 euro.

I use a Satlook Micro G2 which is not DVB S2 or HD, but I can align a dish to Ka Sat and Saorsat TP by using the spectrum analyser, no info though, so definitely, go for a DVB-S2 meter, much easier to use, and more future proof.

Cheap satfinders are not satellite consous so there is no reason for it not to work on Saorsat. The sat IF frequency is the same.

Im currently using a firststrike FS1 meter after my horizon died. It does everything i need it to do. they are not too expensive, around 200€.

The FS1 seems to get very good feedback on other forums too. However, AFAIK it's DVB-S only, so not particularly suited to Saorsat alignment.

It does work on dvb-s2. It doesn't lock the signal but shows readings of quality and strength as far as im aware. You could just use a ku dvb-s transponder on 9east to align?
For me the only downside is the strap. It hangs arkwardly when your up a ladder.

If it can't lock the signal, then it can't give a proper quality/BER reading either. Could align with Ku-band on 9E alright, but for someone investing in a meter specifically for Saorsat as mentioned in OP, then full DVB-S2 support would be important IMHO.

They are due to launch the FS2 version sometime in the near future, which will have DVB-S2 support.

[edit] A few more options to consider in the low to medium price range:

    Trimax TM-6600 DVB-S2 and MPEG4 display

    Trimax TM-8500 DVB-S2

    Golden Media 600 DVB-S2 and MPEG4

If you find a spectrum analyzer useful/necessary and need realtime scans, then the Emitor Satlook models are the best of the mid-range models.
