I currently have a sky+ box in my living room and an old sky box in me bedroom. I'm after getting my hands on a sky hd box and was hoping to connect it up in my living room. Ive a load of questions in relation to it.

Ideally I want to move the sky+ box into the bedroom and replace the old box. Can I do this without extra wiring? I know I wont be able to record without extra wiring (I think). Also will I be able to still watch the recorded programmes with this box?

Do I need to get a new sky card for the hd box or will the one in the old sky box do? I'm not concerned with the hd subscription as I really only want the extra memory.

Is there anything else I should be aware of?

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Ok lots of questions there.

I assume you are currently paying Sky for non HD. Are you paying Sky for one multiroom as well?

If so you can easily put the new Sky +HD box in place of the old one. Best to use a HDMI lead to the TV for best picture. Move the card over and ring Sky to "pair the card" to the new box.

Then move the old one to the bedroom. If you are paying multiroom also move the card over and ask Sky to pair the card. YOU CAN RECORD WITH THIS BOX WITH ONLY ONE CABLE IF PAYING FOR MULTIROOM. However you need to put the box in "single feed mode" which means only one cable from the dish is used and you have to watch what you are recording, but far better than no recording.

If you decide to not got for the HD pack some channels are avilable for free without the HD back such as BBC HD, RTE2 HD (not on 102) and one or two more. No need for HD pack for these, just the right box.

you can do this but will NOT be able to access the recordings. (or use live pause and rewind.)

just replace the + box with the hd box , swap the card into the hd box , ring sky and they will do enable the hd box for recording etc..
