Is there a certain amount of funds when transferred into a bank account in Ireland that the bank will automatically inform the revenue?

I heard that if you lodge over 10k into your account the Revenue will be notified, is this the case?

These days anything over €5 sets the alarm bells ringing.

Are you just saying that because you think I'm up to good and you want me to get busted?

    Hi,

I used to work in a bank and there was no set limit that would draw suspicion. 10 k into one bank account might be an everyday occurrence for some people. If you are lodging in cash, it is up to the bank teller to report any suspicious activity. a one off 10k lodgement probably wouldn't trigger this though as it could be for sale of car etc.. If it's more regular, it will be on the bank managers radar and you might be asked a few questions as to the source. Just make sure it's not all in eur coins or you will piss off the teller and make them dislike you.;)

You may be thinking of Form 46G - Return of third party information '' :
Return of Payments for Services Provided including fees, commissions and payments for where the total to any person exceeded €6,000 for the year of the return.
Please read the notes on page 4 before completing this form

You may be thinking of rules in the US? I seem to remember coming across this in some crime books.
