Ecu gone in 02 punto

    Hi guys my sons punto gave up the ghost yesterday, it was a gift from a mates mother who at 84 had given up driving so she let him have it,2 lady owners from new with only 37,500miles on it.Car is taxed for the yr,new tyres,new nct body wrk spotless.Now my mechanic said burn it do yourself a favour:rolleyes:.. So rang scrapyard they have what i need 150e,big enough job by all accounts what would you think the labour be 200?? Car only worth 100e scrap with ecu gone:mad:So do i fix it or do i buy another cheap run around for 700-1000???

    Assuming obviously it's 1.1 engine.

    Labour fitting ECU is just plugging it in. Shouldn't be more than 2 minutes job.

    Only problem is with immobileiser. If this is coded (and most likely is) you will also need to get a key to the car from which this ECU come from and use it's transponder (??) for the purpose of starting your engine.

    I would give dgt a pm on this forum if you're looking for punto/fiat parts. He could probably do you a very good deal if he has the part, which I think he got one in of last time I was around his yard. :)
