Hi I was in a car crash in march and I am taking a claim against the other driver. The crash happen when I stopped at a red light and a drunk hit me from behind at high speed. Im still out of work. I suffered whiplash to my neck, a bulging disc in my lower back and i suffer from pain in my knee. Can I get information about how long the case with the personal injuries board will take.

    Go to your solicitor.

Doesn't sound suitable for Injuries Board Assessment - do you have a Solictor?

All time limits are set out on their website or just call them, they will tell you where they are at, depends on how long the other parties insurer took to reply and when you are to be sent for medical examination.

My personal advice, don't rush into anything.... you have two years from the date of accident to file a claim with the Injuries Board. Wait and see how things settle down and you have a clear long term understanding of what your injuries are.

    Regarding the process:
    Submit your claim
Injuries Board will write out to the respondent informing of them of claim and they have up to 3 months to accept/deny liability.
If they accept liability (which give the accident you describe is likely)
Injuries board will deal with it within 9 months of that point. Typical running time I believe is circa 7.5 months or so.
Once a proposed settlement is outlined by the injuries board they have 21 days to accept/reject..... you have 28 days. Assuming both parties accept then an order to pay is issued and I understand they have 1 month to pay up.

Plenty of exceptions in there... thats the vanilla process....

Hope it helps.... hope you're on the mend. (Would recommend getting a good solictor)

The piab normally take about 9 months. you have three options deal with their insurance company yourself, get a soliciter if you get a soliciter all they will do is send a claim into piab anyway and take a cut from your final amount.Send a claim in yourself to piab.YOU CAN DEAL WITH THEM YOURSELF AND IF YOUR NOT HAPPY WITH THEIR OFFER YOU CAN STILL GET A SOLICITER OR GO THROUGH PIAB
