    Hi All. This year sees the establishment of the PPI Radio Awards Hall of Fame. The seven previous winners of the Outstanding Achievement Award - Mícheal Ó Muircheartaigh, Jimmy Magee, Des Whelan, Marian Finucane, Gay Byrne, Mario Rosenstock and Larry Gogan will enrolled from the outset. The PPI Radio Awards Committee has also selected four new inductees: the late Gerry Ryan of 2fm, Candy Devine of Downtown Radio, Seán Bán Breathnach of RnG and Ronan O'Rahilly of Radio Caroline fame. The four new inductees will receive their citations at the Awards this coming Friday night."

    I'm sorry but the PPI Awards are nothing more than a mutual back-slapping exercise for radio luvvies.
    Without wishing to speak ill of the dead, I can't really see why Gerry Ryan should be inducted to the "Hall of Fame". I seem to remember him once having an on-air rant about unacceptable gang crime levels in Dublin after a shooting in Clontarf, while all the time he was shoving cocaine up his nose and thereby contributing to the whole thing. :rolleyes:

    ....have it on good authority that the Radio Caroline founder - the man who kick started the radio revolution in this part of the world will be at the PPIs in person this Friday night...
