looking to upgrade the TV with the whole saorview switchover thing

going to be getting a 26 or 28", 32" won't fit where I want to put it

looks like cost will be ~300ish maybe a bit less

any recommendations on what brands to avoid

are tescos technica, and other brands such as LG, Hanspress, Blue Diamond to be avoided? who actually makes them BTW they are a rebadged version of something else I imagine

better off with Toshiba, Samsung, Panasonic?

any recommendations on where to buy, anyone know any good deals going

re tescos technica, and other brands such as LG, Hanspress, Blue Diamond to be avoided?

LG is the second largest manufacturer of TVs in the world and is a perfectly suitable option.

Did you know Saorview only carries the Irish channels. What channels do you have at the moment?

Do you want the UK channels for free too?

Do you have a dish on your house?

Are you paying any company at the moment?

Roughly which county are you in?

This might make the choice of best TV change.

Mind if I jump in on this thread?
Only just getting my head around Saorview. I'd appreciate some advice on how to set this up for my elderly parents.

They live in North Meath, on the Cavan border.
    They currently have an aerial, receiving RTE1, RTE2, TV3, TG4, BBC1, BBC2, UTV, CH4.
They do not want any more, or less! channels.
No HD, no satellite dish, no SKY, no UPC, no fuss.
What do I need to buy to give them these 8 channels and no hassle?
    Thanks in advance.

Ok I reckon this is not the thread to post my query as my parents do not want to buy a new TV! will post separately.
