DiamondBrite

I recently purchased a car and my dealer offered me a full course of DiamondBrite inside and out. He applied this last week, but to my eyes, the car looks the exact same. He claims that I wouldn't see any difference, as it's a sealant that goes over the car, but I expected it to be almost mirror-like in appearance, it would be so shiny, based on what I've seen online.

Before I call foul on my dealer, can anyone who's had it done tell me if I should expect to easily see the effects of a DiamondBrite application?

Can't help thinking this is right up there with 'Underseal' as way to gouge more money from a sale. When buying a car I would run a mile from anything offered by the dealer other than the car itself.

These are just cheap products dealers charge a premium for, purely a profit making exercise for the dealer. If you didn't pay for it fair enough. The kits are about £20 on ebay.

I didn't pay for it, although he did use it as bait to get me to agree on a lower price for my trade in. Ie, instead of x, I'll you y plus this gunk. He showed me the website and I've seen several pictures online and it makes the car all shiny, so I figured might aswell, as he'd already moved twice on the price, I figured it was the best I was going to get.

A sealent will only protect work that has been done on the paint. They could just have washed the car and put it on, that won't give a mirror finish. Its the claying and polishing and wax that will give the mirror shine. If this wasn't done there is no point in sealing it

Was it a new Renault? We bought a new Fluence two weeks ago and was given this inside and out treatment by them as part of the deal. The first time I washed the car everything just slid off, be it break dust or bird crap. Seemed to be working alright and they even gave us what was left of the kit.

It wasn't a Renault, no, but it sounds like the same stuff, they just didn't bother with the waxing and claying before lobbing it on (tks sean). I noticed after yesterday's rain that the droplets on the roof and bonnet were sort of 'on the surface' a lot more, and when I drove, they slipped off. I'm guessing that's what it does to some degree, nothing adheres to the paintwork with this stuff on.

Still would've been nice to get something looking like this but I guess I'll be doing it myself.
