    Oh dear...

French cyclist Steve Houanard banned after failing drugs test

The International Cycling Union (UCI) has provisionally suspended Steve Houanard after the Frenchman tested positive for the banned substance EPO.
Houanard tested positive from an out-of-competition sample he gave on 21 September 2012.
The Ag2r-La Mondiale rider has the right to request and attend the analysis of a B sample.
Houanard's ban will remain in place until the French Cycling Federation completes its investigation.
A UCI statement read: "The provisional suspension of Mr Houanard remains in force until a hearing panel convened by the French Cycling Federation determines whether he has committed an anti-doping rule violation under article 21 of the UCI Anti-Doping Rules."

Don't worry, its just a few renegade domestiques that are doping these days. They are lazy and resort to these methods to get by. The big guys are all clean.

[QUOTE= The big guys are all clean.[/QUOTE]

frank schleck and contador have both failed drugs tests in the past couple of years, i just cant see ALL the bigs guys being clean as there is surely more who havent gotten caught yet. As for Houanard, its disapointing to see any cyclist fail drugs tests.

It's both disappointing and encouraging that people are still getting caught doping.

Yeah you'd theink they'd have learned not to get caught by now wouldn't you?

maybe a spot for another An Post rider so, to follow Bagdonas.

The aspirant riders can hope for a more level playing field if the likes of Houanard are getting caught by out of competiton testing.

It's good news. Keep catching them, catch one a day till March and maybe there will be none left for when the season starts again.

Taking a drug designed to help very sick people is bad in more ways than just the fact of being a cheating bastard.

edit - although I'm sure if I was a struggling pro about to dropped from my team and with either a whopping celtic tiger mortgage or a family to feed I'm sure I wouldn't see it quite as black and white as the simple "cheating bastard"

I'm going to assume that that's sarcasm based on a deliberate misreading of my point. In that case, it is doubly relevant to the evolving topic(s) of the thread and so: :D

I heard that Lance Armstrong planted the EPO on / in Houanard do deflect some of the attention.

    He's so sneaky
