    hi all

my sister has one of these stanley ranges,,,it has a boiler and is connected to the cylinder to do the hot water,,,,up on till recently it was working fine,,,you could roast chickens or whatever in the oven no bother,,,we clean it reguarly at the bottom hatch with the rod we stick in and pull out the dirt etc

but now,,,with no matter wat fuel..turf/coal it just do0esnt seem to be able to get to the teperature it used to,,,,as if the clock is stuggling to climb,,maybe max it goes to now is 150 degrees celcius where as before it could hit 250 no problem

any ideas,,,its not mad old this range,,maybe 4-5 years

    cheers b

white stanley with the black cover on top

Do you clean down the side and remove the back cover and clean down the back ?? cleaning the bottom is just cleaning the bottom, the heat travels around the top, down the side and up the back to the flue, it must all be clear.

    What range is it ????

IMHO that might be a bit extreme but perhaps a bit more honesty from Sanbrafyffe might not go amiss. He should also refrain from giving dangerous advice in an area he obviously knows nothing about.

agree with you shane might be a bit extreme but i can also see where billy is
coming from seen a post on here recently re a guy servicing oil boilers when asked
what courses etc he had taken none was the answer he just looked up the symptoms on his laptop once on site and went from there no wonder people think were mad when we ask for 80 euro for a service and they tell us they can get it done for half that

now have to go my sister has a problem with her kettle will be back later for advice
    on how to fix it

Looking back over his posts it makes it quite obvious that he is making a living out of our advise, advise given by us under the impression that we are helping a diyer/consumer and not someone who is going about portraying themselves as a tradesman.
