How many 2nd hand cars question

Hi folks,
Im working on a project and need some information.

How many second hand cars are sold privately in ireland each year.

Anyone know or know where I could find out. I guess I could email dondeal and carzone and ask them?

I would also need to know what the second hand car market is worth and how has it grown/declined in recent years!

Can't help you but it'd be pointless emailing Carzone and Donedeal as they'd only be able to tell you how many adds were put on their site. This would include unsold cars as well as a double up on adds posted on both. Then your not getting dealer sales etc. etc. The only crowd you could try contact would be the Motor Taxation Office. Not sure if they publish or make available the number of ownership changes in a year though

Definitely won't get accurate figures on what its worth. The prices the cars are sold for in private sales aren't reported anywhere

Maybe field the question with the department of transport, or the rsa, or the various local authorities. Other than that I am stumped.

Dept of transport process every sale, private or otherwise. Maybe it's under the foi jobby?
