I agree cats are like 'little people in fur coats', I have 3 with vastly different personalities.
Eldest cat is 8, a huge orange long furred kitty. He is king of the house. In his younger days he would do a 'catwalk' up and down the garden for the coming home from school brigade cos of all the attention he would get from mammies & kids both.
2nd one is a dainty white female, really lithe and sleek. She has a devious streak but is very loving. Total sweetheart but has nails. When she was a kitten my gp asked was I a self-harmer because of the scratches on my arms!

No 3 is an abandoned kitten, have her about a month. Her personality hasn't developed yet, but she is so 'good',always purring, not one problem with her, even in regard to socialising with 2 strange cats when found. She also dosen't mind dogs. Likes to lie in the bathroom sink.
I often wonder what they are thinking... probably about those new treats i've found in Tesco. Talk about kitty crack!

I do tend to treat my cats like children especially when it comes to safety. I hate to find a knife or cup of coffee close to the edge of a work surface so am always nagging my husband not to leave them there, I just picture one of my guys jumping up and getting cut or scalded.

I think I indulge my cats more than I would a child. Its a bit chilly at night where we are and one of my chaps has taken to sleeping width ways between my ankles at night, for most of the night. He's very clever about it. He does it when I'm asleep, I don't even notice he's done it until I try to turn over. He waits until I've turned onto my side first. It must be a sight to see, me groping around on the bed in the dark when I get up for a glass of water and then try to feel around the bottom of the bed to find out where he is so he doesn't get kicked when I get back in.

One night I got up for 10 minutes, when I went back to bed he was snuggled up lengthwise behind my husband, both of them sound asleep, I slept in the guest bed:o

    definitely yes.

Mine is now like a spoilt teenager. But so funny. Only last night I was having my dinner and she was looking at me as if I had her starved for the last week (she just had her own dinner). Little pathetic cries coming from her as if she was being tortured. Anyway I put a little bit of spicy chicken on the edge of the couch - she hopped up, smelt it, sent it spinning across the room with one swipe of her paw, turned her back to me and sulked. it was hilarious.

Everytime I get up from the couch to do something or go to the toilet, when I come back she is lying on my seat but she keeps watching me to see if I will sit somewhere else so she can relax. If i do sit somewhere else she settls down and closes her eyes, if I move her she sulks. its hilarious.

Yep my 3 furry friends have such different personalities. The middle one, the girl, is defo the boss and she treats the 2 boys as if there mere existence is not worth even acknowledging. She will literally walk through them rather than acknowledge them.
She always has to be closer to me on couch and bed than the two boys and the other two fight out second position between them with a scrap. I don't know if it's me or her they are fighting over :-)

Then why post in a cat thread?!!

Peach is not as human as most cats, she is the epitome of a cat, flirting, begging, all the usual human traits you would find in a cat. Cream on the other hand, I am convinced he is a reincarnation of a baby or toddler who was not meant for this world. Everything about him is so human, Im surprised he even manages to be a cat! If his vocal chords were built right he would definately talk to you, he doesnt just sulk, he bawles! You could nearly see tears streaming down his face, his expression is just sooo sad!! He likes to be cradled like a baby, he throws tantrums and I have to walk the floors cradling him to get him to settle. Ive never met such a human cat before in my life! And I love every minute of it. :)

One of my Toms likes Cider, found him knocking over a can and slurping from the table

But it is not quiet true, they are cats in fur (bar the odd one) unless you have seen pictures of Incas wearing fur.

I once had a cat that stayed in the local pub while my family went on holidays. Upon return the cat would only sleep near the home brew that was my dads latest project.
She also liked a drop of Guinness on a saucer. I was a kid at the time so don't blame me.
So far I haven't had a cat that smoked but the current model enjoys sticking my stray packs under the furniture. I think she's trying to make me quit.
