I dont know if this has been raised before. Has anyone used the distance measuring tool on Google maps. I played around with it using Tulfarris as an example and found it to be 10 yards or so short on the par 3's. Assumimg it is some way accurate I dont drive the ball as far as I thought:o,
Its a bit of fun really but I wouldn't be too convinced about the accuracy.

I've used it on Earthtools.org and have found it to be pretty bang on. Make sure you're using the right tee boxes and are measuring from the right part.

Par 4s and 5s are mostly measured to the front of the green but Par 3s are often measured to the centre of the green given their distance from the tee box. Maybe this is an explanation?

All holes are measured to the centre of the green. We had this debate a couple of weeks ago.

Thanks lads, Tulfarris on their card says to front of green from the yellow markers. Thats what threw me. To centre of green is pretty accurate so.

It will say on the scorecard if its front of centre. My local course is front and my last course was centre.

    We had this before lads,
fairway markers can be front or centre depending on the club, should state on the card.

All holes are measured from tee plate to centre of green.
