    Looking into getting one to save having to lift up the round feeder every time a round bale has to be given out, (and for other reasons such as feeding away from yard etc.) Anyone any experience of these? What about floor type, diagonal or straight bars, spacing of bars, stability etc.? Was thinking along the lines of something like this;

    Hello all,
    i bought my first trailor feeder 12 years ago and bought 2 more 5 years ago. they are great for feeding silage to cattle on stubbles during the winter. They are also handy for feeding meal to cattle at grass. The meal can be put in with a front loader and there is no waste and it is easily moved to a fresh spot.The feeders I have are herron. P.S.Make sure the tyres are not tubeless because if they get soft they will go down quickly and this always happens when its stood in the **** for a few days.

    you really need to get 2 and only take one bring and the other home but can be handy especially for pit silage from time to time

    Thanks for all the replies. Looks like a steel floor may be better for stability and durability. Any problems with larger cattle getting their heads caught in bars and not being able to free them or else dragging the feeder about the place?

    I have a steel floor in mine, tis a Herron, and am fierce happy with it. Two would be ideal for sure, must put it on the wish list. I would echo what John M said about the tubeless tires, that was a problem for me at the start with them getting soft in the field till we got it sorted.
