Hi all, hoping some of you more experienced runners can advise me.

I am a relatively new runner and I'm due to do a 5k on Saturday. I was out last night for the first time in a week and I have a shin splint which seems to kick in after about 0.5k. Its not too bad but I am unsure of how best to deal with it.

Should I rest it completely or is it okay to do a bit of running on it? I want to try and stay active as much as possible if its an option.

In the shower, get a bar of hard soap and rub it up and down your shins for about one minute on each shin. This will help for sure.
