I am doing up my kitchen at the moment and i need the existing normal sized door to the back blocked up and a new window put in. I also have a normal big window where i want frech doors installed. this will require block work and plastering too. i know that i need to price the window and door seperatly but would any of you have any idea how much this would cost and how long it would take. i think that it shouldnt take longer than a day or two but i maybe wrong. also if anyone has any recomendations on where to get a matching french door and window i would appreciate it.

Its very relevant actually as prices can vary considerably in different parts of the country.

well I wasnt aware of that. so are dublin prices higher than average? sure if thats the case i will just put it to tender in counties outside of dublin. how much hassle is it for a builder to drive for an hour to a job from outside dublin. not a lot. if i get a quote that i am not happy with sure i'll shop around. its not as if the job i need doing requires precision skill. its fairly basic stuff.

so this job is maybe a weeks work? conservatively thats 1 day driving so you just added more than a fifth to the price.. dont be a fool - price locally, you have more chance of
    • knowing people who know your builder
    • and work you can check-out,
    • and comeback if there is a problem.

if i had a € for every time i heard that. do it yourself so!
