    Another franchise idea:

Anyone any experience or opinions on whether this could be a good business?

It's a good idea if you know what your doing and don't lock people's ecu's lol. Lots of remaps are generic maps where they just flash your ecu and send you home. Superchips in the uk write a lot of maps and sell the license to different tuners for use on standard cars so it's actually quite easy to do it yourself. When you've a couple of mods I think it's best to get a custom map done by a specialist for your mods/fuelling. I'm going to remap my car myself then bring her to a rr to make sure the afr is healthy.

Very hard for new commers to enter the market.
Lots of experienced, well regarded people already in the business and even if the new commers are cheaper, people will still pay a little extra to get the map done by someone with real world experince like :

    Joe Power - ChippedIRL
    Martin - Autoremap
    Martin - Westward Engineering
    TDP Performance
    Ai Autosport

    etc
    etc

The market here is tiny, and there's considerable lag between launches and maps becoming available.

I rang Superchips in the UK about a bluefin device for my car. It's not available yet. Car is a 1.6TDCI Focus.
