VW Transporter 1.9 elec issues......

OK, so we have an 06 VW Transporter 1.9 Pickup at work. Nice, staid, simple workhorse. No brains required.

Unless you want to open, say.......a window. Or 2. Or adjust the mirrors.....

Basically, we cannot get either to open, nor mirrors (elec) to adjust.

Now, I have bluetooth OBD dongle with the Torque app on my phone, and it will not connect to the ECU, full stop. I have tried everthing. But, in the yard we also have a Caddy and a Bora, and it works no problem on them, so I assume it's actually working ok.

So, I suspect and ECU problem with the transporter. We disconnected the battery and left it for 15 minutes, reconnected it, and Voila !, the windows work - for about 10 minutes, and then we're back to square one.

The van works fine, there are no warning lights on the dash, so looking for any advice on where to go from here.........is it possible the ECU itself is at fault ?

I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

What year's are the caddy's and bora? Not sure about the app you have but the newer vans use a different sytem than the older ones(pre '03 roughly). Might be worth getting a proper scan done before you write off your ECU. Winows and mirrors are likely on the one wiring system. I wouldn't worry to much. Does it happen on both doors at the same time?

    tks, Ronnie,

Yep, both windows failing simultaneously, hence I don't suspect regulators/door hardware etc.

Bora is 02, Caddy is 07.

I was going to suggest checking the connections in the doors for corrosion and that your app just deosn't work on the van. There goes that theory:o.
