So, I have a pair of Bolle Tracker IIs and to be honest, they fog up like mad, even with anti-fog spray, so I'm looking for a cheap (<€50) pair of goggles to get, any suggestions? I don't want any mesh goggles as I've heard horror stories.

EDIT: I think they are Tracker IIs, might be cobras, I haven't used htem in a while so I can't remember, they look similar enough and either way fog up like mad.

Got a setof clone ESS fan goggles like these http://www.ebay.ie/itm/AIRSOFT-ESS-Goggle-FAN-kit-Single-Fan-FANZ-/110830939403?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_2&hash=item19ce09ed0b

very good, no fogging without antifog however for me not the most comfortable as with all goggles, feel tight. I have bolle trackers and I too find they fog like crazy. Went back to my predator full mesh mask in the end.

Is that ebay listing not just the fan?

Alright then, I'm going to do a little more research on them and then possibly buy them, thanks.

The reality is what works best for someone else may not work for you. A lot of this comes down to shape and fit on your face. Buying over the internet is going to be hit and miss.

So though trying stuff out in a shop will be a bit of a lottery and you never really know how these things will work until you get out and sweaty in the field. Unfortunately there is no simple test we can do like divers have for testing mask fitting.

you could just buy a sheet of speaker mesh (stamped not woven) from maplins for under a tenner and make new mesh lenses for the current glasses. i did this and never looked back.

Would you throw a pic of the results of that Thermo? Would be interesting to see!

It'd be impossible/very hard to do with these goggles as they are actually Bolle Cobras and not Tracker IIs as I first though. I'd rather get the ESS clone or Bolle X800s which I've heard don't have anywhere near as bad a fogging problem as mine do. I'll decide next time I'm down at hobby and get to see how the X800s fit.

I originally bought Bolle Vipers but they fogged up like crazy so I bought Bolle Raiders in Hobby and they are perfect. No fogging as they are kept away from my face by the insert piece which is also vented so air can circulate and remove the build up of moisture. I've worn these for a full days mil sim event, I.e. no breaks in the action and they never once fogged up at all. I'd recommend you give them a try.

    http://www.ebay.ie/itm/Airsoft-USMC-3-mm-Goggles-Glasses-Fan-Function-Free-Len-Black-/200827713206?pt=UK_Protective_Equipment&hash=item2ec243b6b6#ht_1818wt_802

Going to order these then, test them out myself (i.e. shooting them point blank a few times) and hopefully they'll hold up.

The problem with that is that once they have been tested in such an extreme fashion they are probably damaged and should then be discarded.

Far better to make sure they are certified to the relevant ANSI standard (ANSI Z87.1 or CE EN 166 ). That means someone else has go to the trouble of destruct testing them for you.

I was thinking about this since I posted it, I think I may just go down to Hobby and try on the X800s there as I've heard they don't suffer as bad from fogging, if they fit well I might just go for them, I'd be worried about testing the clones and them shattering instantly. You mention the ANSI standard, is this something that anyone can submit safety eyewear to be tested for?

The ANSI is an American standard, and the CE is the European one.

For CE marks it is usually self certification, but the regulatory authorities can (and do) carry out tests to ensure that it has been properly completed. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CE_marking#Rules_underlying_CE_marking

Alright, thanks, I think I'll drop the idea of getting the ESS clones just in case.

I had a chance to test out the X800s at Hobby yesterday, wore them for about 20 minutes and already noticed they were a vast improvement over my cobras in terms of both fogging and comfort. When I got home I wore them for an hour while shooting some of my guns at targets and they didn't even start to fog, very impressed by them.

VI: How have you been getting on, have you had a chance to use them out on the field yet. Have also been looking and heard alot of good things about "ESS ICE Glasses". People are saying you dont need to use anti fog on them, can anyone explain what these lenes are made of that makes them different from others if they are indeed. They also do a goggle form which are suppose to be just as good.

Google Heorshark, well worth a look if you decide to go down the mesh route.

    `Cheers will do.
Am also looking at some from Revison "Bullet Ant". The problem is trying to find somebody who stocks them on this side of the water. Pleanty on ebay but going by the prices most like not orginals.
