Im just wondering, this colleague of mine has asked me for a lift to work for a week while his wifes car is off the road (she's using his).

It got me thinking that if I were to have an accident where Im at fault, granted the other driver could claim off my policy, but could my passenger also do this? My insurance covers me for third party, fire and theft.

Im thinking he could, but id like to hear others opinions.

Yes, you'd be liable for any injuries to him if you're at fault. The passenger in this case is a third party.

My mate's insurance got hit for two claims from his passengers in an at fault accident a few years back. (He had been drinking, and they both knew he had been drinking - and still got in. I kind of reckon they should have lost any right to claim, but thats a different story!)
