Found this tiny little bird on the ground on the concourse of the local Shopping Centre this morning. Yes, I know you shouldn't ordinarily touch wild birds, but he was so small that people were walking all around him and it was the luck of god that nobody stood on it. Also, there are dogs around there, not to mention crows, who would have quite easily have killed it. I picked it up, in fact it practically walk onto my hand and we found it a small box and placed him in there and closed down the lid but leaving a gap to allow air to get in. We brought some seed to see if he would need some food. After about half an hour we open the box to put some seed in there and it flew away. I was so glad, as it would have almost certainly died if we had taken him home to try and feed him back to health, obviously didn't need it. Been looking for pictures of as many wild bird fledglings that I can think of but none of them seem to have that yellow stripe on their heads. So, out of interest would anyone know what it was?
