hiya all, wonder if anyone knows will my car pass its nct test if theres a warning light indicating theres a door open when in fact there isn't,its caused by a faulty boot release mechanism, the boot still opens using the key but it takes a few minutes of messing with the key to get it to open!!!!

    Take the bulb out.

They need to examine the boot and if they cant get it open they wont pass the car. Just make sure that it can be opened on the day...

    Not sure about the light.

    35. Bodywork

Check that the bonnet and boot lid catches are operating properly.

    Bodywork Failure:

    4. Bonnet or boot catches defective or bonnet safety catch missing or defective.

    Notes:

The bodywork check includes an examination of the boot. Where this cannot be opened or contains items which would make the examination difficult, the bodywork check is considered to have not been completed and the vehicle cannot be passed.

Speaking of being unable to open the boot, at my NCT the tester couldn't figure out how to unlock it (the unlock button on the key needs to be pressed twice with all the doors closed, or from the unlock button on the driver's side, again with the doors closed) I was there (he started the checks while another car was in the lane, so just outside) and explained how it's done, presumably he'd have figured it out himself after a bit of trial and error?
