    Hi,

Never posted here before. I have an old account with the above and they are closing the european business. I got an email saying I can transfer my account elsewhere for free.

Any suggestions for someone who doesn't trade at the moment and probably wont for the medium term.

    Nothing....

What online platforms are people using these days?

I;m looking for one with no currency exchange rates, easy to deposit/withdraw money and cheap transaction/commision fees.

    TD Waterhouse?

I was trading with them regularly enough up to the point of getting that email. Its such a pain to have to switch to someone else!

Does anyone have any experience with ETrade or TDameritrade? Are there any problems with trying to fund these accounts from an irish bank account?

I only have $180 in the account. I'm going to try and buy a couple of ADRs in US Oil and Gas if they start trading before my account is closed. Otherwise I'll get them to wire they funds back.

I've been looking at TDAmeritrade and TD Direct Investing. I know very little about either of them so if anyone has any info it'd be greatly appreciated.

Just a word of warning regarding Etrade; they say they charge $9.99 per trade but that's only if you place more than 30 trades a quarter or have over $50,000 in your account, otherwise you're paying $20 per trade.

Also, and admittedly slightly off the point, someone mentioned trading oil and gas Adr's but does anyone have any opinions on met coal?

For a while there Etrade weren't opening new accounts for people outside of the US. I don't know if that has changed. Also if you do open an account they have different levels of access, at the basic level you can't write options I believe.

I have accounts with Etrade and Interactive Brokers and there is no problem funding them from Ireland.

do you have a preference between Etrade and Interactive?

I've even less, no worth withdrawning the fund, the withdrawal fee is more that I've in their. Just interested in transferring.

Any that allow free funding and withdrawal in euro money?
