    Hay,
I'm going to be buying a new tv soon. 60" +

Any way a friend bought a 50 inch lg (plasma) a month ago in pc world and its got a dead or stuck pixel in the upper right hand corner.

No I dont know if hes rang them or what but I want to know would this be covered under warranty??
Is this common with modern plasma/lcds?
the last tv I bought was a 37" about 8 years ago and its still going 100%

    Cheers

Have a look in the manual or guarantee to see it this is mentioned. Some brands specify the number and placement (centre or edge of picture) of dead pixels that they will cover under warranty. Regardless of that if I was him I would want it replaced.
