Hi folks, I have just sold my golf and am downgrading due to buying a house. Looking for something relatively economical and reliable due to pretty high mileage (25,000 miles per year).
I dont fancy using my s2000 as a daily driver as itd cost more than my monthly mortgage repayment to run and would also ruin it!
Been thinking about a 2004 accord ictdi, 2005 passat 1.9tdi 105, 2006 mondeo tdci etc.
    Anybody have any suggestions?
Have read horror stories about the accords, are they really that bad?
Seem like good value at around €4,000.
My budget is up to €6,500.
Very tempted by a E60 530d but can see potentially huge bills coming in (If anybody runs a 2004 one of them with circa 100k miles Id love their input)!
Not at all bothered about tax so any suggestions welcome!
Reliability is the key with maybe a bit of power (The 105 passat would have to be remapped).

Also saw a beautiful alfa gt on donedeal this morning. What are they like?! Would I ever manage to sell it on if I bought it?!! http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/cars/3794016

    Thanks, Mark.

There was a nice Alfa 159 2.4 diesel for sale a while back under your budget. That would match your criteria perfectly.

    However I would have this

Powerfull, reliable, good looking and economical. I don't think it has a NCT but maybe get the seller to put it through and away you go!

Thanks 166 man. Was actually looking at that car last night, looks lovely!! What do you think of this one? Excluding the cheap HID's I think it seems to be good value! http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/cars/3878097

I have an Alfa GT and love it! Average out around 41mpg mainly on long runs. Main thing to look out for is that the timing belt has been done at the correct intervals. Had the clutch go on mine but was told its very rare. Well worth looking into more though if your interested in them. Bit of info on them here
