The missus bumped over a speed ramp yesterday and since it is difficult to engage gears 2,4 and reverse. 1, 2 and 5 are perfect. Reverse will engage with a struggle but 2 and 4 pop back out. To me it seems somthing is off line but don't know where to start looking.
    Any advice???

Unlikely to be the gear linkage on the Avensis. They use cables which you would have a very hard job to hit on a speed bump given their location!!!

What part of the car did she hit, that is, if she hit the ramp?

Any sign of being hit underneath or any damage?

Had a quick look underneath myself but could not see any damage.
Hitting the speed ramp might be totally un-related but that was the only thing she remembers as out the ordinary.
