    Hello everyone,

I've a friend who is from Saudi arabi who is interested in getting a motorbike here in Ireland. He has a full license for car and motorbike in his own country and is aloud use it here in Ireland for 1 year but is having serious difficulty finding a place to insure him as they wont accept a forign license, so I'm wondering has anyone any info on pointing him in the right direction or will he have to apply for a license here from scratch?

Thanks in advance for any info.

If he's tried the 4 companies he can go back to the 1st and force them to quote, he needs 3 written refusals from other companies. There's nothing to say the quote has to be anywhere close to reasonable.

He may be better if he goes for an Irish licence. If he's over 24 he should wait till next year for a Direct Access, otherwise it'll be 25kws for 2 years, from the date he applies for the licence, after he passes the test.

You could look into getting an international license - mightnt be as big an issue for the insurers?

    They aren't worth anything TBH.
Insurers won't recognise them. They only recognise National licenses.

An International Licence is only a translation of your driving licence.
So, no good in this case.
