Hi everyone - first time poster...

I am working in a rural law firm and I am due to qualify in early 2014 - I would love to get a secondment next summer, post PPC 2 in a more commercial firm or a state body, such as the NTMA.

Has anyone any experience of applying for such secondments or is it out of the question?

    Thanks a mill

Yes = good idea if it can be arranged.

Hard to get into the places you mention

It's of course, a good idea but obviously the firm that you work for may not be keen on losing you post PPC2 and it might affect your chances of being retained. Obviously if the firm isn't busy enough for a newly qualified, they've told you you aren't being retained or you definitely want out of there, that's not an issue
