Citron C3 wont start

    Hi

My citron C3 engine kept cutting out when I hit the breaks and just wont start again, last week it happened 10 miles from home so had to get the AA out,

After doing a few checks he hit the petrol pump with a hammer and the engine started… He “the AA chap” said to either get the pump serviced or replace it, so I got a local mechanic and explained to him what I had been told… he in turn told me this problem is as common as muck and said he would sort it,

He told me he had to either buy the complete pump for €280 or just buy the inner for €120 and put a smaller outer cover on it that’s held in place with a clip that he stuck on

I have since seen that “Mick garage.ie” sells a brand new pump for €167 for this modal,

The car drove fine for 30 miles till I stopped for a cuppa at my friends house… when I tried to get it started again to continue my journey it wouldn’t have it, so now I’m back to where I started “minus €200”

Can anyone please tell me what the problem might be with this car.. The year of this is car 2002,

I think I should add that there was a strong smell of petrol after trying to get it started last time,

In anticipation of any help you may give I thank you

What fault codes did the AA chap pick up..?

If the faults were fuel pump related then the wiring to the fuel pump will need to be checked.

I think you need to get it to someone who can spend some time on it to find the roof cause....intermittent faults are always difficult to find..
