Driver door speaker issue.

Hey all. I'm driving an 04 Mini and it has a JVC head unit put in. The car's second hand and came with it.The speakers were giving me issue, namely that I was only getting proper sound from the passenger side door and very reduced volume from the drivers door.
I got a new adapter in Halfords and stuck it in which has brought volume into the 2 rear speakers leaving only the drivers door not working and still with this low volume fault.
The first thing I did was check fuses which are grand, then got the adapter. With volume returned in the back I'm wondering where the probable fault might be.

Could it be the speakers in the door that are failing, or would there be any sound out of them at all if they did?
Could there be a problem with the wiring going to the door or would it be the after market head unit?
I'm by no means an expert here so any info is appreciated. I'd like this to be a job I can do myself tbh.

Did you check the head unit volume balance?

I did Paul. It's not a balance issue I'm afraid.

Swap wires at back of radio from working speaker to bad speaker.

If you are around Dublin I can have a look. PM me your mobile if you wish.
It could be your headunit, your amp, your wires...I can test this out pretty quickly.

    bmstuff are you a specialist?

I have an annoying issue with my driver's door speaker. It crackles softly and cuts out occasionally at lower volumes, needing an increase in volume to get it going again. I've also noticed it cut out with the driver door open, and get going when I close the door.

I wouldn't dream of giving my mechanic an hour's labour to look at it only to suggest a new unit.

Thanks for the offer bmstuff. I'm actually in Galway and trying to keep cost down. I assumed the head unit or wires could be the issue but not the amp? If there was a problem there I didn't think I would get any sound at all?

There is a possibility that the pins/legs of the opic need to be resoldered. This is a common complaint and I see it regularly in my workshop
