Following the revelations in the recently aired it documentary on jimmy saville, or more importantly the revelation that BBC's own newsnight had a similar report shelved by management for spurious reasons, does this new revelation finally kill off the reputation of the BBC as a fair and impartial source of information and place them firmly in the-just as corrupt and biased as the rest of them- camp

They also appear to be trying to protect the 'good name' of another of their ilk who is also linked to this story, I have my suspicions as to who it might be, but I don't think we'd be allowed speculate for libel reasons. But it would throw a dim view on all the work he did for 'charrideeee'

So what do ye make of this, is it
A a case of the bbc circling the wagons to protect its own at all costs truth be dammed
B the BBC stoicly defending the good name of a legend tarnished by oportunistic liars

The issue here as far as i see it is the third alleged pedophile, surely if newsnight carried out as in depth an investigation as itv then this third name came to light too, why wasn't this information passed on to the police, that's the conspiracy here IMO

It seems that the BBC investigation was only into Savile himself.

    Well that's convenient

Surely tho if they interviewed the same people the same stories would have come out ala glitter and this other individual

Apparently not! But it's certainly plausible.

Do you know that they interviewed the same people?

Well we wont know for certain u til thepolice report comes out, but its not unreasonable to presume that the same people volunteered their information to both reporters, like I said tho due to the anonomous nature of the reports wewont know for a while

It will be interesting to see for sure. What definitely seems to be the case though is that, whatever about the BBC news division, there definitely seems to have been a bit of a conspiracy of silence between a lot of people in the entertainment side of the organisation who witnessed this stuff going on.

well now, I did a tiny bit of googling and it seems that the woman in question has waived her anonimity, her name is Karin Ward, she was the person who approached it after the bbc canned the story, she's also the one with the savile, glitter and yet unnamed third celeb report.

so I find it highly unlikely that the bbc were unaware of the allegations against a current member of staff.

they do not appear to have forwarded these complaints to the police at the time tho

And now it turns out that the story as outlined in the blog I quoted has been admitted to be less than honest and complete. I wonder will somebody lose their job over this?

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-20024904

On the positive side, the benefit of living in a free and open society is that you see episodes like this where one branch of the BBC effectively investigates another and exposes it. Would it ever happen in RTE, I wonder?

To be fair, I am drawing attention to an incident where the account I was relying on here was proven to be false. I'm not sure what you are getting at.

BBC are gonna be covering their own arses as much as possible. It's certainly plausible that some crimes will be covered up in the process. So yes. They turned a blind eye at the time and will continue to do so.
