If you're sleeping straight through a traditional alarm clock buzzer, if it were me, I'd go see a doctor.

If you're hearing it, but hitting snooze a lot, that's controllable. I regularly have to switch my morning routine up every few weeks or my body and brain adjust to it, so some weeks I use the phone, some weeks I use the buzzer and other weeks I use the FM Radio alarm setting that tunes me into the news.

You may need some medical advice, but if you want to try and sort it yourself, try this old trick. Before you go to sleep say to yourself 'I want to wake at 7am'. You have to think it fairly clearly, not just say it automatically.

Some people suggest that you bump your head 7 (or whatever) times on your pillow, but really its just a matter of clearly thinking what you want to do. Try looking at your alarm clock and fixing in your mind the time the alarm is set for. I can wake up within a minute or so of the time if I do one of these things :)

I know it sounds mad, but it is harmless and you have nothing to lose!

While posters may offer solutions/advice to making sure you get up on time - as per the FORUM CHARTER we cannot make any attempts to diagnose you OP and any medical concerns you have should be brought to the attention of your GP.

I'd be inclined to consult the doctor also.

You could try what the other posters said - switching the alarm stuff around. But I would consult a doctor though if that doesn't work.

if it's the snoozing problem, I installed a program called math alarm, won't let you turn it off till you solve a maths problem. works every time for me.

I dont need to get up as early as my husband so somehow my brain has trained itself to totally ignore his alarm. Occasionally he will forget to knock it off at the weekend and he will say to me 'sorry about the alarm at 7am this morning' and Ill look at him blankly. He has an iphone to incidentally, so maybe the iphone alarms are not as loud as they could be?

My own alarm is a really annoying screech that I cant ignore, although I do snooze like a mad woman sometimes.

If I were you OP, Id try different alarms, and Id investigate better ways to relax to induce you to sleep when you go to bed and not be lying awake. Its important to take a holistic view to the sleep pattern (in my experience) and be sure you are not neglecting yourself as regards diet and exercise.

Set it for integral calculus and see how you get on
