    hey there

Going to a friends engagement party next weekend and not sure what to get them as a present. They're already living together and I haven't been to their place yet so don't know what they have and don't have.

Was thinking of maybe getting them a personalised canvas they can choose any picture to get mounted. Not really sure though as we were very good friends in college but haven't seen each other in a while as living in opposite sides of the country.

    any suggestions?? thanks

If you're not very close why bother with a present at all? When I got engaged we got loads of cards and I was delighted with the cards but didn't expect presents at all.
One or two people got us one for all gift vouchers and I was more than happy to use them. If you're determined to get the couple a gift why not something like that?

An engagement present is not expected at all, just give them a congratulations card (if even). You presumably will be invited to the wedding at which point then you may give a gift to them but other than that, I wouldn't be buying them an engagement present.

    hey thanks for the replies!

I thought an engagement present was expected but yes i'll more than likely be attending the wedding so will hold on till then to get a nice present!
A card and maybe something small like a bottle of wine will do :)

a bottle of champagne is an ideal engagment gift or a photo frame!
