Installing Sky + Box (what do i tell sky)

I recently upgraded to a Sky + HD box and i gave my original Sky + box to my brother. His mate installed it for him and all he needs is to contact Sky to pair the new box with the card.
Will he get any hassle off Sky for installing it without an approved sky engineer and will they ask him where he got the box or anything like that.
    Thanks

Has he an active Sky sub? If so then there's no problem with getting the card paired.

People change boxes all time. I got my "main" box privately a few months ago and hooked it up myself. I also got a + box for the young lads bedroom and got a local fella to throw in another cable so as they could use the Sky + functions as part of a multiroom setup. I got a new card of Sky for this.

In both cases i just rang them and got the respective cards paired.

    Cheers.
He was worried about ringing Sky in case he got asked loads of questions about where he got the box, how it was installed and so on.

Quick update. My brother spoke to sky and had card paired without any problem. Sky rep advised him that as he had only one lead connected that he could only watch whatever channel was been recorded. Sky rep told him not to call sky to get other lead installed as there would be a 100 euro call out charge. Advised him to get a local engineer to do. Nice touch I thought.

You could even do it DIY if you wanted. You need Satellite cable and an F type connector on each end. It's not rocket science if you can work a ladder. This assumes the dish already has a quad LNB with 4 connections and at least one spare connection
