Tesco have reduced their generic 12V compressor to €9.60 (was about €22 a few weeks ago). Probably only available in large branches (Clarehall, Clearwater and similar-sized branches).

They also have what appear to be a good set of jump leads (16 mm2 cable cross-section) reduced to €13.60. Nothing worse than a cheap and nasty set of leads....

Compressor now €4.80! Buy (and carry) two - they eventually burn out, and you don't want to be stuck.

    Jump leads now €6.80.

Both total bargains at this stage.

Are those the compressors that plug into a cig lighter?

Used a similar thing before, **** me I might as well try blow up the tyre like you would a baloon for the amount of time it took.

12V via cigarette lighter, yeah. You can't expect it to perform the same as a heavy-duty garage compressor, but it will inflate a completely flat, average sized, tyre in under 10 minutes.

Maybe you just prefer digging out the spare and getting stuck in (which would probably take the same length of time, unless you are on an F1 team)?

I keep an F1 team in my Boot :D

Haha no seriously i'd prefer to get stuck in and change it and get it resealed/repaired properly instead of faffing around with one of them. :)

For the average Joe though, i suppose it's useful.

Would have to be taken off anyway to get it resealed/repaired so i might aswell whip it off and saves the lad in the tyre place doing it. :)

Jump leads for 6.80 is a very good deal.
I'll have a look today and see if they have that deal here.

I think you are missing the point, they are emergency tools, for when you have a slow puncture in a hotel parking lot or side of the road somewhere. Or when you just need enough air in the tyre to drive to a tyre place.

I have a full garage compressor at home but still have had some usage out of the emergency air compressor when away from home.

Those Compressors are very handy, got me out of bother a few times as my car doesn't come with a spare.

Didn't spot any of the jump leads around cork though...
