    Hey guys

I can't seem to take pictures when I first turn on the camera. If I restarted it works, but when I first turn it on, I point and click, the camera focusses, a green dotted and dashed box appears on the screen with a green dot in the bottom left, it beeps and doesn't snap.

I wanna learn to take pics but I am really falling at the first hurdle here.

Actually while we're at it, I can't get the date and time to save either, and I am actually going insane.

Is the camera keeping your other settings?

A few random things to check off the top of my head.

Check that you're not in Self Timer mode (press the right button on the thumb wheel and spin the wheel until you get to Single Shooting)

If you're getting that green dotted and dashed box, it means you're using the AF illuminator, and you're shooting on low light. Try shooting on better light, or turn off the AF Illuminator (In Setup near the top of the list).

Make sure you're not shooting something too close.

Do you have another SD card you can check the camera with? It could be a write problem with the card.

I don't have a Nex F3, but I do have a Nex 7, so I'm assuming the thumb wheel/menu items/AF Illuminator setup is the same on the two cameras.
