We got terrible themes last year but I was looking at this years and I think a really flexible one is "My Place". You can make it a bedroom, a house, a town, a garden, a shop and do drawings and paintings of various things. You can do landscapes or seascapes too. A thing that guarantees you a good grade is putting an artist in your project. Just a hint :P

They're pretty flexible if you think about it. I think I'm going with machines.. only problem is I never draw them but I have a few ideas. I hate the poem.

yeah, thanks for that.i realise that my place really is quite flexible.
Now i cant choose between my place, machines or a close look.
a close look is quite flexible too.i cant really think of anything i could do for them though :)

    Hey guys,
I'm doing something to do with space and physics, like, astronauts, may draw a portrait of Einstein or Michio Kaku, what theme would this fit into? I'm thinking of doing it like,
''A closer look at Space and physics''
    or
    ''My place, in Space''
What do you all think, don't mean to thread jack haha

well it would fit into both of those, think about what you would like to do for your 3d piece and option because im guessing this is for your painting.
I think a close look is a good one because its quite broad. But if you have more ideas for what you could do for the other ones in my place go for that one, both work :D

    hey :)
i've chosen A Close Look, its the broadest one in my opinion.
I have a few Ideas for it but im trying to add to them so anyone got any ideas for what I could do for A Close Look?

Dunno yet to be honest, I'm focusing on my Imaginative Comp at the minute,
I could do a sculpture of a Space Shuttle, or even a planet.
I'm not entirely sure. I'm not really sure what I'll do for the Option, I'll figure it out though :P

Some of it is going to be sci-fi themed.. I don't want to give my ideas away

I just found out from my teacher that you have to stick to one idea from your theme. So if i do insects for my painting i have to do insects for my 3d piece and option too...

For my 3D model I wanted to make a model of a girl.. does anyone know if you're allowed to use wires/ mechanical stuff and cloth (as in a doll-size sewn dress you sewed yourself) as well as clay? Or can your model only be clay/paper mache?

I think the themes are pretty bad this year too, but they're all verasatile, and really, if we consider our options fully, we could do anything. I'm not sure what theme I'll be choosing yet, because I have my own ideas and I have to find a way to relate those to the themes given.
Everyone's going for the really obvious options, like doing 'What's in the fridge?' and then drawing artic creatures. The whole point of the project is to be as creative as we can be, and really push our limits, which is what examiners appreciate, and look for.
I'd just do a quick brainstorm of all the themes, or pick what interests you (music in my case), and work around it. The worst thing that could happen is that you lose interest, and get bored, which would not help the case.
    Good luck picking anyway. :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 76 ✭✭Leopard_Star

oh I didnt know you're allowed to do it at home, only in school \('0')/
eh,I actually dont know, you should ask our teacher, he/she will tell you everything, but I think you are allowed to use ANY material, and I think you are allowed to use plasticine.search the information online or in examinations.ie or try asking it in yahoo.ie and good luck.
