    Hey lads

I have a back boiler system in the house and one of the rads upstairs wont heat unless the pump is switched on. The rest of the rads upstairs heat well without the pump running has anyone any idea what might be wrong?

Firstly make sure it is full of water by venting it, soon as you get water it's full, and both valve are open fully anti clockwise on both sides, on of the sides might just keep spinng, if so pull the cap off and open with a grips or adjustable spanner.

if still not heating, turn of all other rads in the house and on your cylinder in the hot press locate the 2 pipes coming out of the side of the cylinder in your hot press, one about 100mm from the ground and the other about 300mm from that, and they are directly one top of each other. on of these should have a valve on it, close this also.

If the rad heats, wala! you've just balanced your own heating system, be sure to open everything you've closed. If not you are in need of a plumber. I am located in Dublin if you need help
