    Hi,

I'm thinking about introducing Aubracs to my herd. Basically to introduce more milk and ease of calving. I also read up on the kill out % and it seems very impressive.
Anyone have any experience with these breeds??

    Cheers redzerologhlen,
we have a cow (hereford x aubrac) on the farm and nearly every year we cross her with a Limousin bull. every year she produces a very strong calf... and brings the aubrac look. The cow has savage milk and she never is in bad condition even if grass is scarce or when the weather is bad! I am currently keeping 2 heifers off her for replacement. Hoping they will bring the aubrac trait (milky & economical).
I will post pics of these two heifers

    Images of 2 replacement heifers.
1st pic is of a heifer which will be 2 years in December. She will be AI'd in December also to a Aubrac.
2nd pic is of her half sister and is still sucking. no meal or creep all summer. She will be kept for replacement.

I heard of a farmer who has 30 aubrac cows up a mountain for the whole summer and he only looks at then once a week! They are supposed to thrive on mountain ground

Just sold first calves of my aubrac bull. they were born in march out of 2 year old heifers. They averaged 350 kg and came into 790 euro average. Was happy with the weights considering the year and age of heifers. All calved themselves and are all back in calf.Put him with cows this year so will be interesting to see what wights they get into. Very easy fed cattle.

all bulls am keeping the heifers for breeding next spring. they should make a good job of their calves may try to find bull that throws better coloured calves out of them as that is their only drawback.

Ours are mostly black, an odd red one and I think one has a hint of tiger stripes, but you'd only see that on a sunny day. Going to use angus ai on mine next spring.

Same as mine but have a few more reds.Going to bull them with angus to finish for scheme. The combination should leave cattle that put on weight easy and finish early out of shed at 16 months as bulls and 18 months as heifers.Only bought bull as a cheap alternative to bull heifers but seeing the results am starting to like them as a breed and will introduce more aubrac into cow herd.

They look like fine cattle. Wonder how much for a good pedigree heifer. Some interesting reading here http://www.aubrac.ie/Page_Content/2012Booklet.pdf
