ebay account blocked

My ebay account was blocked by them 2 days ago. I've been trying to get the block lifted and also some feedback on the 'activity' that led to them blocking it in the first place. Not having a whole lot of success in either case.

How do I get this unblocked?
They initially said I had to change my password/secret question - and I've done this. They then sent me a set of instructions - but the instructions don't make sense! Presumably they are outdated. However, from what I can work they want me to call their support line - on a US number. I don't use a landline - and don't want to make this call from my mobile. Has anyone else been in this situation and if so, how did you get it resolved?

so you have zero idea of what you did wrong?
surely there has to be something for them to block it?

They said they suspected that someone had gained access to my account

I know this probably won't help with your prediciment at the moment but ...

Are you cartain that when/if you changed your passwords or logged in that you did so at the official eBay site?

There are tons of emails (and even links in forums) going about with fakelinks to sites that mimick eBay to get you to login, they then divert you to the official eBay, leaving you none the wiser that you passed a fake login page and handed a password over to some devious individual/s.

Make sure you manually type in (or make a bookmark) to
    https://www.ebay.ie

Avoid following any links to ebay or paypal where possible.

In the meantime, theres not a lot you can do about a blocked eBay account, if you create a new one they'll close that down too by matching your details. Best to let them complete any investigation 1st. You don't want to compound the problem by raising suspicions and opening a 2nd acc. :)

You could close the account altogether and open another eBay a/c

But first make sure you remove all linked bank/credit cards .

There is no suspicion in this and eBay are easy going about a member having multiple accounts .

Never login to eBay through a email link .

    Thanks for all your comments.

I finally got the chance to ring them - once they had confirmed an irish number. Account is now enabled once more. I asked them to provide the ip addresses that they felt were suspect. They wouldn't do that - they would only suggest the originating countries of the logins. I'm fairly sure now that it was simply due to the vpn service I use.

I'm confident that I didn't click on one of those spoof/phishing mails. However -exactly at the time that I got locked out of ebay, I received a notification of exactly the same thing from paypal. I assumed that as the companies are related, that this was legitimate - given the timing - and so, began to provide details. Luckily, I just stopped short of pressing submit and realised that it wasn't legit. Goes to show nevertheless how this thing really does work.
