If i fail a module can i proceed to the next year?

If i fail to pass one exam can i go on to the next year and resit that exam at the end of the next year with my others? I ask this as it seems to have happened for someone else in another college

This happened me, I failed a module in 3rd year, and have to repeat it in January, in the mean time I can't progress to 4th year.

My head of department did say you can make your case to the Registar, but generally carrying a subject over isn't done in ITT unlike other colleges.

So you did or you didn't carry it over? and why do ITT not do it when others do...it seems very strange when others do it and designed purely to obtain money and disrupt the student

I didn't go to the Registar, would have been a waste of time.

No idea why ITT don't do it and I fully agree it disrupts a student, I'm planning on just sitting the CA next month, the exam in January and upload the weekly labsheets, no intention of going in for classes which is going to get me out of the college routine and I think I'm already getting too used to working partly full time rather than going on to do 4th year.

why are you so sure it would have been a waste of time...look, see you are already talking of skipping the 4th year because of this system and your voice should flag that to them

I was in contact with my lecturer that I failed the exam and the Head of my department, he said it was a waste of time as the Registar rarely grants it (I'd guess only in hard times e.g. family problem or whatnot). I weighed up my options and decided just to repeat the one subject and work 30 hours a week in my job, till February when I plan to decide my next action.

The issue with carrying a module comes down to what stage in the course you are at.

It may be able to be done in 1st year but other years can be and mostly are award stage years. So you can very rarely carry a module over from an award stage year because the award you would get is the qualifying criteria for your progression to the next stage.

    Hope that makes sense.
