Are these clowns still saying that they're in talks with Sky to finally put the HD version of their channel onto 28e's epg??

Anytime I ask them they just seem to reply with some automated email that there is no launch date but talks are currently ongoing....

Is it all bull or what??

What talking do they really need to do. The EPG slot and that's it. It's not like Setanta comes under any kind of Sky subscription package.

Totally agree, the picture of Setanta on sky is terrible, on par with tv3 and 3e (which is nothing to shout about). Anyone know what events are actually shown in native HD on UPC?

Edit: Was actually doing a disservice to TV3, they are running at 3.5 (Mb/s Bitrate) and Setanta Ireland/Setanta 1 is running at 3.3 (Mb/s Bitrate). Sky Sports 1 HD really does show both them up running at 20.4 (Mb/s Bitrate).

It's not just the EPG slot, it's satellite capacity to carry the channel and the cost to encrypt it.

Sky run the encryption system on 28.2e so they have to pay whatever Sky choose to change for that.

Capacity on UPC is not such an issue as UPC own all the hardware.
On satellite, the transponder capacity would have to be leased.

I agree but "talks" don't usually go on for the best part of two years in fairness

Last time I phoned up to cancel Setanta the guy told me that Setanta HD was "coming soon" to Sky. That's well over 6 months ago and no change so I'm not holding my breath on this one.
